Applying for employment

Please review our current job announcements bulletin to see jobs for which we are currently recruiting. Please note the application deadlines for each position; late or delayed applications will not be considered unless the deadline is extended due to receipt of an insufficient number of qualified applications.

Whether you have a lot of experience but not a lot of education, or if the opposite is true, evaluate the job description and apply for any position you feel qualified for, even if your background does not match the "ideal" description listed in an announcement. Unless a position states a specific requirement is mandatory, we consider how your overall formal education, work experience, and certifications relate to the position for which you apply. For many positions there are pre-employment exams that test specific skills directly related to the position, and the results of such exams will be considered along with coursework, experience, and certifications.

Applicants are asked to complete a job application and provide personal references. Resumes and cover letters are optional, but greatly appreciated, and become part of the application package. All information in the application package, including past employment, education, and references, is subject to verification; if we are unable to verify certain information, you may be asked to provide proof of the claim. Inaccurate, false, or misleading information, along with omission of material which could be reasonably expected to affect an employment decision, regardless of when it is discovered, will be grounds for disqualification or immediate dismissal.

Offers of employment

All offers of employment are contingent upon the results from background checks and clean drug tests. Offers for and continued employment in positions that involve driving vehicles are contingent upon maintaining a clean driving record. Offers for and continued employment in positions involving finances, cash handling, or loans of company-owned equipment to employees are contingent upon acceptable credit checks and maintaining a satisfactory credit history. Offers for positions and continued employment in situations where employees may enter private residences, schools or other facilities for children, high security areas, etc. are contingent upon acceptable criminal background checks.

Special terms

Employment is "at-will" and may be terminated by either party, with or without cause, at any time. All employees are subject to an initial probationary period of 90 days or 400 working hours, whichever period is greater. During the probationary period, eligible employees accumulate leave time in accordance with company policies, but they are not eligible to receive other benefits (e.g., health insurance, etc.). Eligible new employees are encouraged to continue their existing coverage (e.g., through COBRA) until their probationary period is completed and their selected benefits fully take effect.

Technical workers' tools

Employees in technical positions are expected to provide their own basic "tools of the trade" for performing common computer maintenance tasks. Employees without these basic tools may borrow a loaner toolkit from the company. As a convenience, employees may (but are not required to) purchase tools "at-cost" from any of our vendors. At a minimum, each technical employee should maintain:

  • A set of screw and nut drivers or one screw driver with interchangeable bits
    • Philips screwdriver (Nos. 0, 1, and 2)
    • flat screwdrivers (1/8", 3/16", and 1/4")
    • torx screwdriver (T10, T15, and T20)
    • nut drivers (3/16" and 1/4")
  • electrician's scissors
  • anti-static wrist strap
  • 5" or 6" long nose pliers with wire stripper
  • utility or pocket knife
  • side cutter
  • 10'/3m or longer measuring tape
  • non-conductive dusting brush
  • tweezers
  • spare parts storage with assorted screws, nuts, jumpers, etc.

Additionally, most network-related positions require ready access to portable computing devices (laptop or notebook PCs, PDAs, etc.) capable of connecting to various client networks for diagnostics and testing. As a convenience, all current employees may (but are not required to) purchase such equipment "at-cost" from any of our vendors. It is each employee's responsibility to care for and properly maintain their own equipment to prevent the infection and spread of viruses and other malware into and between clients and our company networks.

Foreign worker sponsorship

We do not currently sponsor or assist alien workers in obtaining work authorization in this country. All employees must provide proof of their legal right to work in the United States by the third day of work, or they will be dismissed.
