Software links
From AcornWiki
This section contains links to download pages for various software tools and utilities that we find useful in some situations. Not every program is useful for everyone, and we offer no guarantees about any of these products. Websites change frequently, and the links below could be outdated or broken; we are not responsible for the content you might see as a result of following a link.
The software listed below has various license requirements. Most of the software is free, at least for personal use (that is, not for use in a business, but fine for home use). Some links point to limited versions, and full-featured versions might be available at a higher cost. Some software may be shareware or other form of "try before you buy" software, which requires (or at least encourages) payment if you continue to use the software. Be sure to read the information on the websites and in any accompanying licence agreements to ensure you fully comply with the terms of the agreement.
The software on this page is quite a mix of software. None of the linked software (at least at the time it was added to the list) knowingly contained any harmful malware (viruses, spyware, trojans, etc.), but that could change over time, and you should always scan downloaded software for problems before using it. Some of the network utilities found here are considered to be forms of malware (most notably VNC and some of the network scanning and password recovery tools). The software are not malware, but rather tools that can be used by hackers/crackers to compromise security. Software, like VNC, is sometimes embedded within malware to allow remote access to computers. The software also has many legitimate network administration uses (which is why we link to them), and it is up to end users to use the software responsibly. Obviously, we cannot be responsible for how anyone uses the software, but we encourage proper useage.
If you discover a broken link or would like to have a link added to some software, please contact our Sacramento office. If requesting a link to some software, the software must be free for general use or you must provide us with a fully-functional NFR (not for redistribution/resale) copy of the software for evaluation.
